Booz & Company Summer Internship Programme 2005
Favourite Project:
A business transformation strategy for a South African investment bank. It was a rare opportunity to work on a financial services project for an investment bank, where it was possible to develop an understanding of the entire bank, front to back, across all business units and products. On the ground in Johannesburg, we worked with the client, whose profits had trebled over the past five years, to develop a vision of their business model for the future. As the most junior person on the team, it was really exciting (and sometimes nerve-wracking) to have daily exposure to the firm’s leadership, working with them to identify a strategy for lasting change.
Why Booz & Company:
Booz & Company has a great summer internship programme, unrivalled in terms of on-the-job exposure and variety of experience. From the outset you are incorporated into the firm as a consultant and expected to hit the ground running. My first day started with a 7am flight to Zurich for a financial services project with a private banking client. Within 30 minutes of arriving at the Zurich office I was contributing to the work. One week later I was presenting my findings to the senior client!
Beyond Booz & Company:
I love sailing and can be found messing about on the Solent most weekends, but when in London I like eating well with friends, going to the theatre and playing the piano.
