A Booz & Company partner, Richard Verity works out of the firm’s London office, where he specializes in supply chain management, purchasing, and corporate transformation services for the downstream energy and chemicals industries.

Examples of Mr. Verity’s numerous engagements address a wide scope of service, including:

Leading supply chain management programs for a multi-national oil major in Europe, the U.S., and Asia; the cash release obtained exceeded $2 billion
Developing a total working capital reduction program addressing creditors, debtors, and stock to create one of Europe’s first “cash positive” refineries
Facilitating a high-level strategy team that developed the organizational blueprint—and long-term destiny—of a European refining company
Advising a multi-national oil major on Internet threats and opportunities, and provided services that exceeded idea generation to offer implementation of fully functioning businesses
Leading a large-scale reorganization of a $10 billion petrochemicals company, including setting up a shared service organization, refocusing the corporate core, defining strategic business units, reviewing and restructuring R&D, implementing new financial reporting, and moving the organization from design to full implementation in less than three months
Advising a leading European petrochemicals company on its divestment strategy, including carve out, valuation, and governance; the project will culminate in negotiations that will change the face of the basic chemicals industry in a number of regions
Leading one of the largest cross-border integrations in Europe, where two industrial gases companies were merged in just six months; the transaction delivered over 250 million Euros of synergy (fully in line with market expectations); he and his team were involved in the full spectrum of merger issues, from synergy calculation to organizational design to cultural alignment

Mr. Verity has authored or co-authored a number of studies and articles, including “No-Frills CRM,” which appeared in strategy+business.

A former freelance journalist in Britain and university lecturer in Turkey, Mr. Verity also worked for Shell Chemicals in Paris, where he was involved in production planning, logistics, and other services. He speaks French and Turkish.

Mr. Verity read English literature at the University of Colorado, where he earned an M.A. degree, and Cambridge University, where he received a B.A., and completed the London Business School Sloan Programme.
