Since retiring from the Civil Service in 2005, Lord Andrew Turnbull has joined Booz & Company as a Senior Advisor. After university, he worked as an economist for the Zambian government as a Fellow of the Overseas Development Institute. He joined HM Treasury in 1970, was seconded to the IMF between 1976-78 and during 1983-85 he was Economic Private Secretary to the Prime Minister. In 1988 he returned to Number 10 as Principal Private Secretary. Lord Turnbull was Permanent Secretary to the Department of the Environment from 1994-98 and to HM Treasury from 1998-2002. In 2002 he was appointed Secretary of the Cabinet and Head of the Home Civil Service. He entered the House of Lords in December 2005 and is a non-executive Director of Prudential PLC, The British Land Company PLC and Frontier Economics Ltd, and is Chairman of BH Global Ltd.
