| Business Development Director Greater China - Maxxium |
Former industry/office: Consumer Products, London,
Alumnus since September 2001
Jeremy worked for us as an Associate in the London office for three years from 1998 to 2001. During the seven years prior to joining Booz & Company, Jeremy worked at Gillette and Guinness plc (now Diageo) and obtained an MBA from IMD, Switzerland.
Since leaving the firm in 2001, Jeremy has worked in various Business Development roles for Maxxium, a global distribution Joint Venture (JV) in the alcoholic drinks sector. Maxxium is a fascinating and possibly unique company in that it is a global JV between four major international shareholders (so fascinating, in fact, that INSEAD wrote a case study about Maxxium). More importantly, the unusual business model has performed outstandingly well in the face of tough competition from bigger players such as Diageo and Pernod Ricard.
The complexity of the company is such that Jeremy’s consulting skill-set has been heavily in demand when tackling a variety of business challenges. For example, portfolio development strategy, salesforce restructuring, global market segmentation strategy and a lead role in the global integration of a major acquisition by our US shareholder (Fortune Brands). Most recently, a move to Shanghai to develop and implement an aggressive five year development plan in this major emerging market for premium spirits.
The future continues to look dynamic, with the exit of Maxxium’s French shareholder (Remy-Cointreau) from the partnership in 2009 and the recent news that their Swedish shareholder (V&S) will be acquired by Pernod Ricard. Interesting days ahead and plenty of challenges to keep a Booz & Company alumnus busy!
