Former industry/office: Energy, London
Alumnus since March 2007

In March 2007, Alexei Sidnev, Booz & Company Principal in the London office, decided to take on a couple of exciting new challenges. Now living in Moscow, Alexei, together with his partners, have founded two businesses in the area of hospitality and entertainment development. The first business is to establish the company “Silver Age - better than home”, a chain of luxury assisted living facilities in Russia and the former Soviet Union. These facilities are aimed at elderly Russians who want to improve their quality of life and move into a 5* hotel type facility where they can have access to essential medical care, entertainment and social activities whilst retaining their freedom.

This concept is not unique. It took America by storm in the 1990s and is still the most successful format in the senior hospitality industry in the world. Alexei and his partners are planning to open the first Silver Age facility near Moscow in 2010. In addition to Silver Age, Alexei will be building “Freestyle Park Moscow”, a large indoor entertainment park with the longest indoor ski slope in the world. The park will include a 700 m long ski slope, a water park, bowling alley, a cinema, hotel, apartments, shops and restaurants. At the moment Alexei is finalizing the deal with one of the investment banks to fund the Freestyle Park concept in two other major cities in Russia, and also in Kazakhstan and Eastern Europe. Alexei says: “The fact that people live longer these days and that global warming is inevitable, suggests that we have a robustly attractive business case!”
