With more than 20 years of experience leading business process and technology-enabled transformations for Fortune 100 companies, Senior Partner Eduardo Alvarez is based at Booz & Company's Chicago office. He assists global energy and utilities clients in globalizing, improving profits, and developing more agile business models.
Mr. Alvarez has a broad variety of experience supporting client engagements for the firm, including:

Launching an enterprise process transformation effort for a leading energy company, including adapting Six Sigma and business process reengineering (BPR) methodologies to capture value from enterprise resource planning (ERP) investments, and preparing a self-funding value capture program that delivered $100 million in the first 18 months

Developing a new IT model (ITIL based) for a major utility/gas/power company to integrate multiple acquisitions, including defining ways to extract value from the delivery and architecture model to make it more scaleable and the program self-funding; results included a $50 million per anum in value captured from IT

Redesigning key business processes for an oil/gas major in North and South America, including defining opportunities to capture value from integration and standardization of key customer services and supply chain processes, and identifying value capture opportunities of $100 million p.a.

Developing an IT upstream strategy and roadmap for one of North America’s largest exploration and production (EP) companies, including developing IT requirements based on the company’s business objectives and articulating the five-year process, data, and system renewal agenda

Co-leading the effort to create a global IT shared services organization for a major oil company, with a focus on defining a scaleable infrastructure on a global scale; the transformation delivered an annual savings of $300 million—a 43% improvement
Mr. Alvarez is a board member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs; a President’s Circle member at the Museum of Science; and a board member of the University of Michigan College of Engineering alumni board.
Before joining Booz & Company, Mr. Alvarez was employed at General Electric and AT&T. He holds an MBA with honors from Harvard University, an MSME in computer control and manufacturing from the University of California Berkeley, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering with high honors from the University of Michigan.
