Based in Dallas, Don Dawson is a Booz & Company Partner with more than 26 years of experience in utilities, concentrating primarily at the nexus of both the IT and utilities markets. He addresses a number of focus areas, including functional IT transformation, merger and restructuring execution, and operations delivery performance.

Mr. Dawson’s business expertise also spans:

A recognized thought leader, Mr. Dawson has led or contributed to many Booz & Company engagements, including:

  • Developing an IT strategy for the largest liquefied natural gas gathering and processing company in the U.S.; also oversaw the IT standup of this company as it was divested from its parent
  • Overseeing the IT standup of a gas transmission and storage company as it was divested from its parent
  • Managing the IT integration for the largest utility merger in the U.S. ($36 billion market cap, $70 billion in assets), including establishing and implementing the integration methodology and program structure for IT integration; establishing and implementing an IT Program Management Office (PMO); and much more
  • Directing the synergies assessment for a $25 billion utility merger, including creation of cost baselines, identification of savings potential, and more
  • Managing a strategy development engagement for the financial organization of a $14 billion utility
  • Directing the development of processes, the establishment of the PMO framework, and an organizational assessment for a $1.3 billion nuclear power plant restart for one of the world’s largest nuclear facilities
  • Managing the identification of over $60 million in IT savings opportunities for a $1 billion cost reduction initiative for one of the nation’s largest utilities

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Dawson worked with Deloitte Consulting. He has a B.S. degree from Central Missouri State University.
