Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2011: beyond the crisis
Switzerland, Germany and France have the most suitable environment for developing the travel and tourism industry.
This is what emerges by studio Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report, produced by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with Booz & Company for Tourism Forum 2011 (GTF), held in Andorra. Austria, Sweden, United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Spain and Singapore complete the top 10.
As for Italy, its ranking is essentially stable since 2008. In 2011, ranks 27th place, down one position from the previous year.
Italy also has to face the competition of two most dynamic countries (Albania and Montenegro, bordering a geographical point of view) that have significantly increased their competitiveness in tourism.
This year's report, published with the subtitle "Beyond the crisis," cautiously optimistic outlook reflects the complexity and the tourism industry is facing in order to survive and ensure a significant growth sector in the future.
Aspects that are analyzed in the chapters of the study include the impact of recent economic and financial crisis on the tourism industry, the importance of price competitiveness for attracting tourists and the key role it can play the field "travel and tourism "in the emerging green economy.
