John Loehr

John Loehr is a Partner based in Chicago with nine years of consulting experience. He is a member of the Engineered Products and Services Practice. John focuses on helping automotive, industrial, and aerospace companies reach a position of product and market leadership through a combination of product strategy and functional restructuring. His recent assignments include product, pricing, and distribution strategies for a global construction equipment company and a North American HVAC manufacturer. John also works frequently with private equity companies to evaluate the market and technology competitiveness of potential targets.

Prior to joining the firm in 2000, John spent nine years as a scientist at the Air Force Research Labs, eventually leaving as Technical Director. His research focused on semiconductor lasers, nanostructures, quantum devices, and other related applications of solid state physics. John has written and presented extensively on these topics, including a single-author book and over 100 journal articles and conference papers.

John earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, M.S. in Physics, and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He also serves on the Semiconductor Advisory Board for Virginia Tech University.
