Matthias Bäumler is a Partner in Booz & Company’s Berlin office aligned to the firm’s operations practice, focusing on the chemicals and pharmaceutical industries. Mr. Baeumler specializes in capabilities-driven strategy and operating model design as well as footprint optimization, and co-leads the company’s megatrends initiative.
He has more than 12 years of consulting experience in Europe and Asia. Recent projects include:
- Growth strategy for major global chemicals company
- Sustainability strategy for chemicals
- Post-merger integration at a major pharmaceutical company
- Market entry strategy China/Southeast Asia
- Footprint optimization after several buy-and-build acquisitions
He has co-authored a number of publications, including the firm’s Future of Chemicals series, "Overall Asset Contribution: Tapping the Hidden Power of the Asset Base in Process Industries", "Crisis in Chemicals: How to Emerge as a Winner from This Economic Downturn", and Make or Break: How Manufacturers Can Leap from Decline to Revitalization.
Mr. Bäumler joined Booz & Company as a senior associate in April 2006 after working for another management consultancy’s process industries group, where he also worked in Asia and North America. Prior to that, he gained experience with the United Nations (NY), BASF (Chile), Lurgi (Germany), and Unilever (Germany).
He has a diploma in industrial engineering from the Technical University of Berlin.
