Matthew is a Partner in Booz & Company’s Information Technology, Consumer, and Media practice based in San Francisco. He focuses on serving leading multinational companies on issues of strategy, corporate development, marketing and sales, operational improvement, innovation, and leadership.

His client work has included enterprise wide initiatives including:

  • Strategy: Conducting corporate, business unit, product, and market strategy for clients in the US, Europe, and Asia most recently focused on the transformation of industries through technology
  • Corporate Development: Mergers and acquisitions strategy, due diligence, post merger integrations, buyouts, investments, alliance and joint venture development most recently between multinational companies and two of China’s leading business groups
  • Marketing & Sales: Brand strategy and positioning projects, marketing effectiveness and efficiency programs, loyalty, sales stimulation, and sales force effectiveness campaigns in B2B and B2C companies including where new technology is changing marketing practices
  • Operational Improvement: Turnarounds comprising overhead and activity value analyses, shared services, working capital management, capital reduction, strategic sourcing (saving more than $5 billion), outsourcing, and off-shoring projects
  • Innovation: Ideation, product development, open and collaborative innovation, and new product launch campaigns
  • Leadership: Organization, governance, leadership, and executive development initiatives


Matthew brings more than twenty five years of experience as a consultant at McKinsey & Company, AT Kearney, and Monitor Group including leading the West Coast practices of the latter two firms. He has also been a corporate executive at Gap Inc where he was SVP Strategy and Corporate Development and SVP Marketing for Gap brand globally.

Matthew is a Director of the Bay Area Council, a member of the Academy for Interactive Arts and Sciences, a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and was appointed to the Governor of California’s China Delegation in 2010 and to the Governor’s Life Sciences Council in 2005.

Matthew has a Masters degree with Honors from Christ Church, Oxford University in England, and a MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He is married to Alison Davis and they live with their five children in Tiburon in the Bay Area.
