John Rolander is a Partner in the New York office of Booz & Company.

John specializes in assisting financial institutions to define competitive strategies, improve financial performance, and engage and mobilize employees throughout the organization to achieve performance objectives.

John’s recent client work includes:

  • For the U.S. private client business of a global investment bank, identified and supported execution of revenue growth and profit improvement initiatives that led to 40% growth in revenues and moved from a substantial pre-tax loss to profitability over a period of three years
  • For the wealth management business of one of the largest U.S. banks, worked with leadership team to increase pre-tax profits by over 15% through improving price realization on loans and strengthening credit processes
  • Assisted with re-structuring the top line organization and re-designing key management processes for a leading on-line securities firm
  • Worked with senior leadership team of a major securities firm to strengthen recruiting, on-boarding and training of institutional sales reps and to increase their sales performance
  • Supported CEO of leading card network provider in designing a scenario planning process and building internal capabilities to execute it.

In his 20 years of consulting experience, John has lived and worked in London, Tokyo, and New York serving many of the world’s leading global financial institutions.

He was previously a Partner at Katzenbach Partners. Prior to joining Katzenbach Partners, he was a senior advisor at The Boston Consulting Group in its financial services practice area. Before that, he worked for several years as an independent advisor to the chairman of Merrill Lynch International. From 1994 to 1998 he led the financial services business for Gemini Consulting.

John holds a B.A. from Yale (cum laude), an M.Div. from Harvard, and an MBA from Columbia Business School (Phi Beta Kappa).

John has five children, including two grown sons and three daughters, ages 8, 5, and 3. His passions, in addition to spending time with his wife and children, include running, yoga, piano, rock climbing, skiing, scuba diving, and mountain biking.
