Ivan De Souza

As head of Booz & Company in south Latin America and leader of the financial services effort in the region, Senior Partner Ivan de Souza specializes in strategy, marketing, and organization services for financial institutions and conglomerates.

Mr. de Souza is a former member of the firm’s Board of Directors. He is based in São Paulo, Brazil, where he leverages his expertise in:

• Retail banking, cards, and consumer finance
• Corporate and investment banking
• Wealth management
• Insurance

He supported many engagements at the firm, including:

• Development of visions and business strategies for leading financial services groups in Latin America, including a five-year plan for a large multinational bank; a regional strategy for a global bank; a corporate business strategy for a leading insurance group; and a multi-line business strategy for a large player in Latin America
• Design of market assessments and entry strategies for leading international players in Latin America that include a major European bank acquisition in Brazil; a leading Spanish bank entering Brazil; a large global finance company; and a global processing service company
• Development of business and customer strategies for corporate and middle-market banks, including business strategy development; customer segmentation and relationship; industry value chain analysis; performance review and adjustments; and organizational redesign
• Planning and implementation for post-merger integration of large global banks in Brazil and Argentina, including integration strategy and planning and organization of program offices
• Development of strategy and new business for some of the largest card issuers and consumer finance companies in Brazil
• Design of business strategies for leading players in the wealth management industry, including services in pension funds market assessment and business case analysis, and strategies for onshore private banking for one of the largest foreign banks in Brazil

A recognized thought leader, Mr. de Souza is the author of the Booz & Company study "Setting Out To Conquer the World – Business Model Challenges and Lessons Learned in the Internationalization of Latin American Companies."

With an MBA from Columbia Business School, Mr. de Souza also has a degree in business administration from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
