Dr. Eric Kronenberg

Dr. Eric Kronenberg is a Partner based in Florham Park, New Jersey. He is a leader of Booz & Company’s aerospace and defense practice and focuses on working with aerospace and defense companies to build their functional capabilities. He has deep expertise in working with complex development and production programs to improve their likelihood to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals

His major areas of expertise are:

  • Product development, including system engineering and integration
  • Program and project management
  • Operations
  • Business development

He has substantial experience working across maritime, space, air, and land domains. Eric also focuses on mergers and acquisitions in the aerospace and defense industry primarily through providing due diligence and post-acquisition restructuring support.

Examples of Eric’s work include:

  • Designed and implemented program and project management best practices programs at three different major aerospace and defense contractors
  • Led Booz & Company’s service offering to assess and improve program and project management capabilities across industries; has assessed over 140 programs
  • Helped company develop necessary system engineering and integration capabilities for successful development and deliver of major satellite system
  • Reduced unit costs by 20% of a major defense platform through a combined government/customer effort to redesign the platform for lower production costs
  • Reduced the cost by 15% of a major defense design program using best practices through process streamlining, tool enhancements, and organizational changes
  • Evaluated strategic options for a division of a major space company— options considered included: capital investment, restructuring, divestiture, and liquidation
  • Created a low-rate production plan for a defense contractor whose market was declining and was cost disadvantaged relative to its competition

Eric has contributed to Booz & Company studies and strategy+business articles, including:

  • “ISSR: What Drives (Your) Program Costs? Achieving Step-Change Cost Reduction on Department of Defense Platforms”

Prior to joining Booz & Company, Eric worked as a defense consultant at the Institute for Defense Analyses. He also spent several years at a hedge fund analyzing electric utility stocks.

Eric has a BS with honors in Physics from Brown University, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and a PhD in theoretical nuclear physics from MIT.

Eric is a passionate traveler and enjoys skiing, tennis, golf, squash, and playing guitar and piano. On weekends he mucks around with his family on their old farm outside of New York City.
