Dr. Edward Tse is Booz & Company’s senior partner and Chairman for Greater China, (Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Taipei). He has over 20 years of management consulting and senior corporate management experience and is widely known as one of the pioneers in China’s management consulting profession and he is one of the most experienced and respected strategy consultants in China. Focusing on China and its role in the world, he specializes in the definition and implementation of corporate transformation, organizational effectiveness, and business strategies.

He has assisted several hundred companies – headquartered both within and outside China – on all aspects of business related to China and its integration with the rest of the world. His experience covers a wide range of industries. He also consults to public sector organizations such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Chinese government on issues related to policies, state-owned enterprise reform, and competitiveness.

During his career, Dr. Tse has held a number of leadership positions including being Managing Partner, China for the Boston Consulting Group (1993-1996); Executive Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Managing Director, Greater China Operations for Hong Kong Telecom (2000 – 2001) and part-time member of the Central Policy Unit of Hong Kong SAR Government (1998- 2000).
He is also a Business Strategy Expert for Chief Executive China for over ten years, a member of the Consultative Editorial Board of Harvard Business Review Chinese Edition and a strategy expert of HBR On-Line. He is also an invited member of the appraisal panels for Management Action Awards of Harvard Business Review Chinese Edition (2007-2009) and Future Star Awards of China Entrepreneur Magazine (2006-2009).
Currently he serves as an independent board member for Baoshan Iron & Steel Corp. (which won the first Shanghai Exchange “Annual Board Governance Prize” in Dec 2009), and Shanghai Automotive Industry Incorporation (Group), an advisor to the Mayor, Luwan District, Shanghai, an expert in the Expert Committee of China International Engineering Consulting Corporation (CIECC) and is Vice President and Professor at the Shanghai Institute of International Finance on a part time basis, as well as an advisory board member of Gridiron Capital Ltd. He was named as one of the most Influential People in China’s Mobile Communications Industry by Shoujiquan magazine (2007).
Dr. Tse is a frequent speaker on Greater China's business and regulations and author of over 100 articles. A recognized thought leader, Dr. Tse has authored numerous articles and contributed to many Booz & Company studies, including "Buying Right in Asia - Successful M&As in a Challenging Market”, "Managing Discontinuities in China", "Developing a China Strategy that Delivers Results", and strategy+business magazine articles, such as “China’s Five Surprises” and “Context and Complexity.” He is author of two books: Direction – What Chinese Enterprises Should Learn (in Chinese; Winter 2007) and The China Strategy – Harnessing the Power of the World’s Fastest-Growing Economy (Spring 2010).
Some of his activities in key conferences include: presenting views on entrepreneur's social responsibilities at Boao Forum 2009; panel member of the 9th Summit of China Entrepreneur Forum; keynote speaker at China Business Thinker's Forum 2008; presider for Dalian-China Economic Forum 2009; award presenter and keynote speaker at "China Innovation list 2009"; speaker at the World Economic Forum summit meetings in Beijing over the years; one of lead facilitators of the China's Travel and Tourism panel in the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland, 2004. His articles frequently appear in publications such as, on magazines: Hong Kong Economic Journal, China Entrepreneur, Harvard Business Review Chinese Edition, Forbes Chinese Edition, Managers, 21st Century Business Review, Peking University Business Review, Founder, World Executive, Directors & Boards, and Shoujiquan; on newspapers: 21st Century Business Reports, Economic Observer, CBN Daily, China Daily, CCID, and the Oriental Morning Post.
Dr. Tse holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley where he received the Converse Prize for being the most outstanding graduate student. He also has a MS and BS in Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
