Dr. Matthias Bünte
		Zurich

Dr. Matthias Bünte is a Partner of Booz & Company in the firm’s Zurich office. He has over 14 years of healthcare consulting and biotech industry experience. He worked for four of the top ten pharmaceuticals and leading generics companies and two of the top five biotech companies on large international assignments in the areas of strategy development, R&D portfolio management, drug development, drug safety, marketing, sales, and medical in Europe, the U.S., Southeast Asia, and Japan. He has extensive experience in portfolio evaluation and modeling as well as organizational sizing and design.

His recent experience includes projects on:

• Analysis and harmonization of the drug safety organizations for a multi-divisional biotechnology company
• Development and implementation of a new approach to quality risk management in pharmaceutical development
• Development and implementation of direct-to-pharmacy distribution concepts including opportunities to increase local demand
• A European-wide initiative on identifying commercial and trade channel management opportunities for a large global pharmaceutical company
• Development and sizing of a new regional marketing and medical organization for a leading pharmaceutical company; delivered a new organizational concept that found acceptance and was implemented regionally and locally
• Redesign of the development organization of a global pharmaceutical company with focus on phase II, phase III, protocol design, patient recruitment, NDAs
• Strategic portfolio evaluation in the context of a post merger integration (PMI) for two major pharmaceutical companies
• Development of growth strategies in Europe for a leading European Generics company; optimized and implemented their drug development process and organization

Prior to joining Booz & Company Matthias worked for Amgen where he developed and implemented the market entry strategy in the eight Central and Eastern European E.U. accession countries. As country manager he personally managed the successful start-up in Poland and the Baltic States.

Matthias holds a PhD degree in Astrophysics and a Master Degree in Physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich.
