Cesare R. Mainardi is Managing Director of Booz & Company's North American business and is a member of the firm's Executive Committee. During the past 23 years with the firm, he has worked with North American and European Fortune Global 500 companies to help them achieve major business transformations. These programs have typically been multi-year, strategy-based efforts spanning most functions and geographies to create change.


Mr. Mainardi has helped to develop a new business model for a consumer products company and reduced its costs by $1 billion, led a successful turnaround for a manufacturer of automotive components described by analysts as a “a modern business miracle,” advised two pharmaceutical companies in one of the world's largest integrations, and helped another consumer products company achieve industry-leading growth.


A recognized thought leader, Mr. Mainardi is co-author of the book Cut Costs + Grow Stronger, recently published by the Harvard Business Press. He has also contributed to several articles, including Capabilities-driven Strategy: How to Win by Changing the Game,”Reinventing Scale: How To Escape the Size Trap and “Label of Origin: Made on Earth,” all published in strategy+business magazine. Consulting Magazine named him to its list of the Top 25 Consultants for 2005.


Mr. Mainardi has served as global leader of Booz & Company's functional practices, including operations, information technology, organization and strategy. He also led the firm's global Consumer and Health practices. He is a former member of the firm's Board of Directors.


Mr. Mainardi has received three Professional Excellence Awards, Booz & Company's highest recognition for client service, for outstanding and innovative work on assignments for Pfizer, RJ Reynolds, and Johnson Controls.

Mr. Mainardi received his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. His Master's degree in manufacturing engineering and Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering are also from Northwestern, where he was awarded a Whirlpool Fellowship in Manufacturing.
