Leslie Melville Named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader
Booz & Company Partner Jake Leslie Melville was honored with a selection to the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders (YGL) program for leaders under 40. Elected to a three-year term, Leslie Melville joins an influential community of nearly 500 leaders from around the world, chosen for their potential to develop and implement programs that address the most pressing global issues from health to education, the environment, global governance and security, and economic development and poverty.
The annual YGL selection of about 200 leaders is chosen from among 3,500 candidates by a nominating committee headed by Queen Rania of Jordan and WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab. The 2009 class include business and civic leaders, as well as artists, academics, and journalists from all over the world. The YGLs convene at biannual summits, as well as Forum events and meetings throughout the year and collaborate on initiatives to tackle some of the key challenges of our generation.
Leslie Melville’s selection provides another strong link to the Forum, where Booz & Company already has a broad relationship, actively led by Senior Partner Klaus-Peter Gushurst and others.
Based in London, Leslie Melville is a member of the firm’s global energy practice and has led a range of Booz & Company oil and gas projects, most notably in West Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Russia. With Partner Charley Beever, he leads the firm’s relationship with the Global Business Coalition (GBC) in coordinating a business response in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Leslie Melville also leads Booz & Company’s strategic relationship with the British Red Cross.
