Downstream Case Study 7:
Transformation of secondary transport operations for oil and gas major
- Booz & Company was retained by an oil and gas super-major to assist with the transformation of its secondary transport function with the objective of reducing operating costs by 25 to 30 percent while improving safety and reliability.
- Booz & Company assisted with structuring a business-led program that baselined and benchmarked current performance, quantified the performance gap, conducted root cause analysis, detailed improvement initiatives, designed pilot programs to test and refine these initiatives, and conducted a thorough knowledge transfer to allow the client to continue to roll out these improvements across its fleets. These actions resulted in the elimination of constraints that had previously reduced fleet optimization potential; they increased asset utilization rates and asset productivity; and they resulted in a net cost reduction of more than 25 percent.
