Business Operating Model
Developing a New Operating Model for an Australian General Insurer
- The client’s cost structure was high relative to the industry. Processes had evolved separately in each state and most states were subscale. Booz & Company helped develop a new operating model to improve service and reduce cost nationally, and also conducted an analysis of product/channel profitability to understand where the client should focus to achieve broader performance improvement. Implementation of the new model nationally allowed staff numbers to be reduced by 27% and increased effectiveness (e.g., turnaround times were cut by up to 70%).
Post-merger Integration for a Leading European Bank and Large Local Retail Bank in Brazil
- Booz & Company supported the post-merger integration of a leading European bank, with a strong presence in Brazil, a large local retail bank with similar size and branch network, but significant differences in corporate cultures, client perception, and brand recognition. The merger resulted in one of the largest local financial conglomerates, with 12% market share and more than 2,100 branches in the country. Our work included conducting legal, accounting, strategy, and IT due diligence, developing integration strategy and process, and creating processes and tools for program planning, coordination, and control. Additionally, we supported the wholesale banking and middle market segments in creating the baseline, strategy definition, integration planning, and execution.
